Strongsville QB Jony Major Named High School Impact Player of the Week

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Gladiators announced today that junior quarterback Jony Major of Strongsville High School has been named the Week 1 High School Impact Player of the Week for his standout performance in the Mustangs 48-34 win over Berea-Midpark on Friday night.

Major accounted for six total touchdowns in the game, finishing with two passing touchdowns (81 and 35 yards apiece) as well as four rushing scores to propel the Mustangs to a Week 1 victory.

“It’s an honor as an organization to give back to the community and each week we look for someone who has impacted their team with a great performance,” said Gladiators Offensive Line coach Chad Schofield. “Jony checked all of the boxes and without a doubt made the biggest impact on the field, which led to the recognition for this award, which he most certainly deserves.”

For winning, Major will receive an award recognizing his accomplishment, an appearance in-game at a 2018 Cleveland Gladiators home game, a visit at practice by coach Schofield, as well as a $500 grant towards the Strongsville High School football program.
