North Ridgeville RB Shomari Williams Named High School Impact Player of the Week

CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Gladiators announced today that senior running back Shomari Williams of North Ridgeville High School has been named the Week 9 High School Impact Player of the Week for his standout performance in the Panthers’ 37-30 win over Westlake on Friday night.

Williams scored all five touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime, as North Ridgeville outlasted Westlake in overtime, 37-30. With the win, the Rangers improved to 2-7 on the season.

“Shomari was outstanding on Friday night,” said Gladiators Offensive Line Coach Chad Schofield. “By scoring all five touchdowns for his team, including the game-winner in overtime, Shomari really showed an incredible amount of heart and determination in helping lead his team to victory. His efforts make him more than deserving of the Gladiators Impact Player of the Week and we can’t wait to see him and deliver this award to him personally.”

As the Gladiators’ High School Impact Player of the Week for Week 9 of the 2017 season, Williams will receive a Xenith High School Impact Player of the Week helmet that recognizes his accomplishment, an in-game appearance at a 2018 Cleveland Gladiators home game, a visit at practice by coach Schofield, and a $500 grant towards the North Ridgeville football program.
