Marrio Norman Returns to the Gladiators
The Cleveland Gladiators announced on Wednesday they have been assigned 2014 First-Team All-Arena Defensive Back Marrio Norman.
Norman, 28, is an Arena Football League veteran of three seasons. He makes his return to the Gladiators defense after a brief stint with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League.
In 2014, Norman was an integral part of the Cleveland defense, as he set career-highs in tackles (78), interceptions (12), and pass break-ups (19), as part of the Gladiators “No Fly Zone” secondary and helping guide the team to a historic league-best 17-1 regular season record.
His success led to Norman signing a contract with the Baltimore Ravens which resulted in him missing the Gladiators playoff run to ArenaBowl XXVII.
“We are very excited to have Marrio back just in time for our playoff push.” Head Coach Steve Thonn said. “He gives us an experienced and vastly talented defensive back to add to our secondary. Marrio was a huge reason we had the success that we had last season on the defensive side of the ball.”
Over the course of his career Norman has made 181 tackles, intercepted 24 passes, and collected 40 pass break-ups for the Gladiators, Orlando Predators, and Georgia Force.
Prior to his professional career, Norman played his college ball at Coastal Carolina and originally hails from Greenwood, South Carolina.
