Gladiators Assigned DB Obi and DL Bastien
CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators of the Arena Football League, presented by Unique Home Solutions, were assigned DB Fred Obi and DL Shubert Bastien, the team announced Monday.
Obi, 26, enters his third season in the AFL and his first with the Gladiators after spending the 2016 season with the LA KISS.
The 6’1”, 190 lb. defensive back earned Second-Team All-Arena honors and appeared in all 16 games with the KISS in 2016, as he collected 91.5 tackles, 18 pass break-ups, five interceptions, and one defensive touchdown.
Obi played his rookie season in 2015 with the San Jose Sabercats where he appeared in 10 games and finished the year with 48 tackles, nine pass break-ups, and four interceptions.
Obi played collegiately at San Diego University and is a native of Inglewood, CA.
Bastien, 23, enters his rookie season in the AFL as a member of the Gladiators.
The 6’5”, 252 lb. defensive lineman played four seasons collegiately at Middle Tennessee State University where he played in 49 games throughout his career and earned Honorable Mention All-Conference USA in 2012.
Bastien is originally from Riviera Beach, FL.
Additionally, the Gladiators also announced last Friday they have placed WR Nick Truesdell on reassignment.
