Gladiators Announce Youth and High School Football Initiative
CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Gladiators, presented by Unique Home Solutions, proudly announced the team’s new Youth Football Initiative, recognizing youth and high school Football programs and players with various awards including the Youth Football & Cheer Programs of the Month, the High School Impact Player of the Week and the High School Impact Player of the Year.
In total, the Gladiators will donate a total of $15,000 during the months of September and October to local football programs that display excellence on and off the field, as well as in their community.
Youth Football & Cheer Programs of the Month
The Cleveland Gladiators Youth Football & Cheer Programs of the Month are programs reward players’ character, discipline, skills, sportsmanship, and maintaining an active community role.
During the months of September and October, five programs will be chosen as the Gladiators’ Programs of the Month. Winning programs will receive a $500 grant from the Gladiators Community Fund, an appearance at practice by Gladiators Defensive Backs Coach Dominic Jones, a free ticket for each athlete to a 2017 Gladiators regular season game, and a plaque honoring the program’s achievements.
Any youth football program up to and including eighth grade is eligible to be nominated as a Gladiators Youth Football & Cheer Program of the Month with all nominations due by the 15th of September and/or October to be eligible.

High School Impact Player of the Week
Each week the Cleveland Gladiators will select a High School Impact Player of the Week based on individual players’ on-field impact on their respective teams’ success. Each winning player will receive a plaque, recognition at a 2017 Cleveland Gladiators home game, an appearance at practice by Coach Jones, as well as a $500 donation to the player’s high school football program.
The Gladiators’ High School Impact Player of the Week award will be announced every Tuesday, with Week 1 and 2 winners set to be announced on Tuesday, September 6th.

High School Impact Player of the Year
At the conclusion of the 2016 high school football season, the Cleveland Gladiators will select one winner from a group of four finalists to be named the 2016 Cleveland Gladiators High School Impact Player of the Year. Gladiators High School Impact Player of the Year honors will be granted to the Northeast Ohio student-athlete who is best able to showcase their on-field and off-field accomplishments in the areas of academic success, athletic performance, and community involvement.
Eligible high school players must be seniors on track to graduate in 2017, and nominations will be accepted throughout the high school football season. The Gladiators’ four chosen finalists will then be entered into a public online vote, whereby the public will ultimately determine the Gladiators’ High School Impact Player of the Year. All four finalists will receive a $1,000 scholarship each, while the winner will be awarded an additional $1,000 scholarship.

In order to be eligible for nomination for the Cleveland Gladiators’ Player of the Week /Year Awards, a player’s high school football team must belong to one of the following Northeast Ohio area football conferences:
- Akron City
- Chagrin Valley
- Great Lakes
- Greater Cleveland
- Lake Erie
- North Coast
- Patriot Athletic
- Portage Trail
- Senate Athletic
- Western Reserve
