DB's Richardson, Ikner, and OL Williams Join the Gladiators

CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators, presented by Unique Home Solutions, of the Arena Football League were assigned veteran OL Keith Williams as well as DB’s Kent Richardson and Arness Ikner on Tuesday, the team announced.

Richardson, 29, comes to Cleveland after spending the 2016 season with the Orlando Predators where he started in 14 games, making 59 tackles and intercepting three passes.

The 6’0”, 200 lb. defensive back is most well-known for his time with the Philadelphia Soul from 2011-2012 and 2014-2015. During his four seasons in Philadelphia, Richardson totaled 214 tackles, 23 interceptions, and four defensive touchdowns, including being named First-Team All-Arena and Defensive Back of the Year in 2012.

Richardson signed with the Cleveland Browns of the NFL in 2013 where he spent some time in training camp.

The Tallahassee, FL native played collegiately at West Virginia University.

Ikner, 26, enters his first season with the Gladiators after spending the 2016 campaign with the Portland Steel. While there, Ikner played in eight games, where he made 40.5 tackles, had 10 pass break-ups and recovered a fumble.

The 5’8”, 180 lb. defensive back’s previous two seasons before that were spent in Orlando where he totaled 11 games played, making 55.5 tackles, broke up 11 passes, and intercepted one pass.

Ikner, pronounced IKE-ner, played collegiately at Middle Tennessee State University and is originally from Pasadena, CA.

Williams, 28, joins the Gladiators after a three-year run helping anchor the Arizona Rattlers offensive line.

At 6’5”, 330 lbs. Williams was a sixth round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011 before being waived in camp and quickly latching on with the Buffalo Bills. Williams spent three seasons with the Bills before making his way to the AFL in 2014.

Williams played his college ball at Nebraska where he started in 34 games over the course of his career with the Cornhuskers.

Williams is originally from Florissant, MO.

In corresponding moves, the team also announced Tuesday it has placed DB Joe Phinisee, DB Demarcus Robinson, and DL Zach Anderson on reassignment. Additionally, DL Kalafitoni Pole has been traded to the Baltimore Brigade for future considerations.
