Arvell Nelson Looking Forward to Second Season With Gladiators

Arvell Nelson returns to the Cleveland Gladiators roster this season ready to embrace his role at quarterback. ClevelandGladiators.com chatted with Arvell about what he is looking forward to in year two with the team.

ClevelandGladiators.com: What is the biggest difference heading into this offseason in comparison to last season when you were in your first year with the team?

Arvell Nelson: The biggest difference for me is knowing that I was coming back to Cleveland, so I knew how to prepare and what to prepare for. Last year I didn’t know I was signing with Cleveland until the second week of camp and I was brought in as a Jack Linebacker. Knowing that I am coming as a quarterback this season I was able to get myself ready and prepared this offseason.

Thoughts on all of the weapons that you will be throwing to this season?

I am excited! It’s a quarterback’s dream to be surrounded by so many athletes and playmakers. I just want to do my part by getting those guys the ball and watching them go to work!

What did your offseason look like?

All work! After taking some time off to let my toe fracture heal, I got straight to work. I also became a new father, welcoming Aston Nelson into the world.

What are your goals for the upcoming season?

Championship! I feel we put a great group of guys together. Our main focus in camp is to get everyone involved working towards one goal and that is winning a ring for the city of Cleveland.

What do you think the new coaching staff brings to the team?

A winning mentality. Each one of these guys knows what it takes to win and all of them have experience in Arena Football, whether it be coaching or playing the game, so that is a definite positive. I am excited to get to work with them.

While in Cleveland this upcoming season is there anything you are looking forward to doing/places you look forward to going?

I am a Cleveland kid so I’ve done it all here but I would like to witness the Cavs go for back to back championships. That’ll be fun!

When you look at the schedule are there any dates/match-ups that you are looking forward to?

Not in particular. I am blessed to be able to play this so I look forward to all of them, especially the home games. The Gladiators fans are the best in the league.
