Gladiators Take On Brigade at The Q on Sunday

MATCHUP

Sunday, the Cleveland Gladiators (0-1) kick off Week 2 of the 2017 AFL season vs. the Baltimore Brigade (0-1) at Quicken Loans Arena in the first of three meetings between the two teams this year. The Gladiators will travel to Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, MD, for a Week 8 showdown vs. the Brigade on Saturday, May 27th and Cleveland will host Baltimore at The Q in Week 11 on Friday, June 16th.

LAST TIME OUT

Tonight marks the first meeting between the Gladiators and the expansion Brigade in AFL history. In Week 1, Cleveland was defeated by the Tampa Bay Storm at The Q by a final score of 46-40 while Baltimore fell short vs. the Washington Valor at Verizon Center in Washington, DC by a final score of 51-38.

WHO TO WATCH: GLADIATORS

In Cleveland’s Week 1 loss to Tampa, Gladiators QB Shane Boyd completed 24 of 37 pass attempts for 288 yards and five touchdowns while Gladiators wide receivers Larry Brackins (8 rec., 87 yds.), Brandon Thompkins (8 rec., 98 yds.) and Collin Taylor (6 rec., 91 yds.) combined to snatch all five of Boyd’s touchdown throws. On the defensive side of the ball, Euclid native Rayshaun Kizer led the way with three tackles and one interception.

WHO TO WATCH: BRIGADE

Led by seven-time ArenaBowl champion, 2014 AFL Hall of Fame inductee and former LA Kiss head coach Omarr Smith, the Brigade dropped their Week 1 road tilt vs. Washington despite 197 passing yards and three touchdowns from QB Shane Corden, along with significant performances by wide receivers Reggie Gray (12 rec., 139 yds., 1 TD) and LaQuan Williams (5 rec., 2 TD).
